I’ve been really busy the past couple weeks which has only further allowed me to drag my feet on decorating my house for Christmas. When I made my Halloween Burlap Sign I admitted that I don’t really like to decorate for the holidays because you just have to take it all back down. In my adult life I have hardly ever decorated for any holiday, mostly because I seem to never be home  and partly because I don’t have kids, who would actually enjoy it. But, I am hosting my very first Christmas since buying my house almost 2 years ago and I want it to be festive. So I better get to it!

I finally took a few minutes today and whipped up this wreath. I bought a plain (fake) Christmas wreath on sale at Michaels last weekend for $3.50 and a couple of spools of cute white ribbon with red and green dots for $1 each. But when I went to put it all together I wished that I had bought wider ribbon. Oh well…

After a bit of brainstorming/indecisiveness, I decided to use some of the Christmas fabric I had on hand (which is code for fabric that I am hoarding after buying from a post-Christmas clearance 2 years ago). I might as well do something with it!  Anyway, I just picked 3 patterns, cut some strips, and tied it along with my ribbon.

So this is what I ended up with:

Other than my new little wreath, my tiny front porch is pretty bare. I usually have a plant on either side of the door but I had to move them because we had a slight freeze the other night. I am embarrassed to say that I have had a gorgeous new front door knob (with an electronic keypad!) and a cool palm tree door bell purchased already for over a year-and-a-half now but I have yet to install either. Sigh…

This wreath isn’t one of my most favorite things I have ever made, but it will do. I was in the mood for simplicity today and this serves the purpose. Maybe next year I will get a little more ambitious. And maybe I will get some lights on/near the house tomorrow. Maybe…

Until later, happy decorating!

I think it is very cute. I love a simple project sometimes and you managed to make it fun and easy. Great idea! It is way more than what is on my door!
