I haven’t worked on the look of my blog for a while and it was driving me crazy. I used to do all my graphics on my pc laptop but when I switched to this super awesome Mac I realized the colors were different and the green I was totally in love with looked super bright (and a little tacky…sigh…). Not to mention, I decided that I really wasn’t loving my social media icons. I helped my friend Aimee at It’s Overflowing with the coding on her new icons and they looked great…so I knew I wanted to redo mine.
But I just really haven’t had the time or the focus to work on it all. Until today…well I actually had a bunch of stuff to do today but once I got going on this I couldn’t tear myself away (can we say obsessive?). Then I looked up when I was finally done and 5 hours had passed! I hadn’t even eaten lunch! LOL…
If you haven’t noticed by now, I really like the tropical look. If you came to my house that would be very evident! I actually chose this pattern because it reminded me pineapples (which I love!). I went with a softer green (not soooo limey!) and paired it with grey. I never have been a grey person but I have to say I am totally loving the color combo! I use the website Pattern Cooler to make all my background patterns. It is super easy and more importantly FREE!
I also made these freaking awesome pineapple icons! I mega heart photoshop!
Then I used photoshop to make some new page buttons. Photoshop actually had these fun frame shapes to play with. Super easy! I think the hardest decision was trying to figure out what color I wanted to make them. After many different versions I finally made a decision! Uh, and by the way the links on my Etsy button and the little shopping cart on the pinapple don’t work because I haven’t opened my store yet. :)
Just in case you are wondering why all my page links are on the side of my page it’s because I can’t figure out how to do the CSS coding on my WordPress template. Ugh…I can’t tell you how many hours I have spent on trying to figure that out! I’ve given up. I’ll just roll with the side icons until someone smarter than me tells me how to do it.
I kept my header pretty simple…I can’t decide what else to do with so I’m ok with it being kinda plain.
And I added the new Linky Followers to the sidebar. I think I might take down the GFC soon since I have WordPress…not much point in keeping it up! Feel free to add yourself to Linky Followers and/or Networked blogs (hint, hint).
I still have a few more things to do like update my “grab a button” buttons and of course the blog signature below is still really limey. But all in all, I’m pretty proud of my Sunday accomplishments. Who knows…maybe I’ll change my (indecisive) mind in a month or two and make some more changes…
Until later, happy blogging!
