I had to go to my college class today and when I was taking pictures of some flowers I spied this caterpillar.
After some research, I think this is a Yellowstriped armyworm caterpillar (Spodoptera ornithogalli). It actually turns into a moth, not a butterfly. This is one of the most common caterpillars encountered in the vegetable garden and can be quite a pest. It looks shiny/slimy here but it wasn’t really.
I think the picture came out kinda neat but of course you know I wish I could have gotten even closer!
