SATURDAY, MARCH 24TH
It was a beautiful blue sky day today so I went down the highway to Texas City to see if any more wildflowers were blooming where I found the Indian Paintbrushes last month. They didn’t really have any flowers I haven’t shot yet but I did see some butterflies!
I love how you can see the face on this guy! I’m pretty positive this is the American Lady (Vanessa virginiensis) and it’s little bug friend is the Cucumber Beetle (genus Diabrotica).

I didn’t get a good shot of the whole dorsal size, but here is what the ventral side of the wings look like on a different individual. Notice the cool eyespots! :)
I also saw another one of the yellow butterflies that I took a picture of the other day. I wish we could see wildflowers year round…I will be sad when they all go away!
